Tonight's blog

I'm going to start with "Hi everyone" as though there are people who are actually reading this!

My son is 5 1/2 years old and started kindergarten today! Me and my husband, along wigth our son visited the place three times before today so he was pretty comfortable going in there. However, he found himself caught between loving the new class and missing his former daycare. Still, he had a great day! He made some new friends and did lots of art work, which we looked at together at home.

It's funny how we assume that such a transition is only difficult for the child or children. I was so busy worrying about how Liam would take it that I failed to realize how difficult the transition was for me too. Liam had been at his former daycare his whole life except for his first three months. I knew everybody there and was pretty set in that routine. Now, the whole thing is different and I don't know anybody or anything. More difficult than that is the fact that Liam has been in the car with me for my entire 45 minute commute for almost his whole life. Now the commute for him is much shorter since the kindergarten is closer to our home. After dropping him off at school and getting back onto the highway to go to work, I almost started crying at the realization that he was not in the car with me for the rest of my commute. That phase of his life, and mine, is over now. However, the upshot is that the commute for him is so much shorter that we're home a little earlier now so we had a little extra time to relax together at home after school and talk about his day. So it was a bittersweet day, but we're both looking forward to the rest of the school year.

Just a quicky note for now

I love communicating with a whole bunch of people. I have a wide, wide range of interests so I should have lots of stuff to talk about. Not sure how I'll use this blog yet. Maybe I'll just go with the flow and let it take on it's own form. Can't blog too much at the moment though because I'm on break at work. Therefore, this is just a quicky. I'll post a real blog tonight. :)
